Biodanza for Whole Health in Bristol

Thursday, June 13 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Biodanza for Whole Health taster workshops during Creativity and Wellbeing Week 13th and 15th of June at Resbite Cafe in central Bristol – all welcome!

Biodanza is a holistic dance practice that invites us to develop our multifaceted potentials, including our capacity to choose a healthier, happier lifestyle.  Its dance movement exercises can help us keep well and, as a creative group activity, it is also an effective way to combat the epidemic of loneliness.

Creativity and Wellbeing Week is a nationwide festival led by London Arts in Health Forum with The Culture, Health and Wellbeing alliance. The festival has been running for eight years and is going national. Last year around 35k people took part in hundreds of public events for people to learn how the arts and creativity can improve health and wellbeing.

Director of LAHF, Jenni Regan, says “What we’re finding is that although the arts can be used to respond to specific healthcare needs, we’re also seeing tangible health benefits of activities like singing with a choir. I hope Creativity and Wellbeing Week will enable people to take an active role in protecting their health and the health of their families.”

Biodanza teacher, Paula Jardim, adds “I am proud to be featuring in this year´s Creativity and Wellbeing Week. I believe that Biodanza, with its dance movement exercises, can help us keep well, improve our health and live longer, happier lives. The music is especially chosen to boost your mood. As a creative group activity, it is an effective way to combat loneliness and alleviate anxiety, depression and stress. I hope this taster workshop will raise awareness of Biodanza, especially of how it can generate positive emotions, and encourage healthy physical activity, creative self-expression, and social interaction.”

The workshop is suitable for all and is taking place on Thursday the 13th of June at 12 noon at Resbite Café (first floor) in central Bristol – 27 Broad Street, BS1 2HG. Your generous donations will contribute to further workshops being offered to the general public in the near future. Please note that the venue has no lift to the first floor.

Supporting Info
Biodanza is a dance-based system supported by scientific theory and evidence-based research. It was created by Chilean psychologist and anthropologist Rolando Toro Araneda in the 1960s and is becoming increasingly popular around the world. It uses dance and movement to music exercises not only to boost vitality but also to help people rediscover their joy and pleasure of living, unleash their creativity, develop empathy and relationship skills, and regain a sense of connection with themselves, other people, the communities they live in, and the world at large. It is a holistic creative practice that embraces the totality of human experience and invites people to develop their multifaceted potentials and ability to dance with life.
