Olga Bastable is celebrating Rolando Toro Araneda’s birthday on the continent of Europe but it didn’t stop her contributing to our UK initiative, with the theme of the Biocentric Principle (all life is sacred). She simply celebrated earlier. This is Olga’s contribution – an inspiring account of her workshop, illustrated with her stunning artwork which carries so much vibrancy and movement.
‘It all happened on Saturday 6th April. And it’s great to be the first to start the series of Rolando Toro Araneda’s Birthday celebration vivencias.
There is now a tradition to commemorate this occasion worldwide with the track ‘What a Wonderful World’ which has been recorded by many artists. Our first class ended in a transcendent Closing Circle dancing to ‘What a wonderful world’ by Israel Kamakawiwo Ole.
The second vivencia started with delicious Louis Armstrong’s rendition, and later mellowed down with Eva Cassidy’s version in a swaying circle of friendships.
Three Wonderful Worlds in one day- and it wasn’t enough!
My workshops start with a sharing circle. We began by talking about how the Biodanza system brings out our best, integrating and strengthening our values, self-worth and identity. People shared their wisdom and experiences speaking personally, straight from their hearts. This is how the Biocentric Principle is present even before we start dancing.
The feedback gathered from this ‘wonderful world’ of Biodanza confirms how the Biocentric Principle (‘All life is sacred’) which underpins Rolando’s system brings greater connection to everyday life.
‘Integration is the key. The body has its own wisdom, the connection is flowing – you can connect with strangers and friends in the same affectionate way’
‘I’ve done Biodanza for over twenty years and it’s a great source of connection, love, fun and personal growth. Biodanza has made me a different person and it’s the biggest support in my life’.
‘I was lucky to dance Biodanza with Rolando Toro when there was a Congress in London. There were over 200 people there and it’s still a highlight of my life! I like the fact that every dance is led and you trust the teacher to be led through this beautiful journey…’
‘I trust the process and the ‘Olga magic’. When I feel sad, Biodanza is a great source of connection with your soul and goodness and I always leave the class feeling much happier.’
