Noel Watkins, a storyteller and Biodanza facilitator who teaches across the northern counties was one of those who ignited the initiative to celebrate Rolando Toro Araneda’s birthday in a special way in the UK in 2019. He chose the track ‘Free as a Bird’ by The Beatles to include in celebratory Vivencias (sessions) and contributed the heartfelt poetic post ‘The Well of Life’ below.
Biodanza brought me to a new realisation of the sacredness of life.
I first encountered it at Dance Camp Wales 13 years ago when I went to a vivencia in a marquee on a grassy meadow lead by Guy Barrington and Fanny Vogelis.
At the end of that first encounter I was smitten; returning to my circle of tents I declared “I’m going to teach that one day!”
And so began a transformational journey that has changed my life irreversibly for the better.
Biodanza has been a deep soul dive into the core of my being.
It’s been a journey into my personal underworld and there in Hades Liar I discovered my treasure hidden in the darkness.
Like Orpheus I had to go there in search of something precious I‘d lost and like that master of music I looked back when my faith failed me and so I had to live in torment a little longer.
Biodanza helped me understand my lost longing to explore “the soft animal of my body” and to be the ultimate source of creation myself … a father to a son I hold so very dear.
Biodanza gave me the courage to turn away from the easy path of compromise. It helped me trust in all that I can be as a peaceful warrior striding out along the road less travelled making precious friends along the way.
Rolando Toro Araneda… I danced with you … I saw your passion, I heard your wisdom… I offer you my deepest gratitude and I promise to continue your work especially in the realm of Education where you started your journey.
Biodanza brothers and sisters… Blessings…
Our time has come…
